MANILA - The Ospital ng Makati reiterated Friday that alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles can leave the hospital anytime even with her unpaid hospital bill as long as she executes a promissory note.
The hospital said it has already coordinated with Napoles' police detail "and informed them they can pull out Mrs. Napoles anytime."
"The matter of her continued stay at Osmak is up to the courts, and not hospital management."
The Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150 has set another hearing on the petition of Napoles for an extended stay at the Ospital ng Makati.
Makati RTC Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda will summon Napoles' doctors from Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, where she is detained for a serious illegal detention case filed by pork scam whistleblower Benhur Luy, to testify whether or not the conditions there will be suitable for her recovery.
The hearing is set on May 20, Tuesday, at 10 a.m.
Napoles' lawyers told the court during Thursday's hearing that the businesswoman, who underwent an operation to remove the tumor in her uterus at the OsMak last April 23, needs complete bed rest.
They also said she needs a very clean and cold room in order to fully recover.
Based on the testimonies of Napoles' attending physicians, who were also summoned by the court on Thursday, a very dirty environment could lead to possible infections and complications on Napoles' operation.
The OsMak has already issued clearance for Napoles to be discharged from the hospital.
