MANILA - Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas blessed alleged pork barrel mastermind Janet Napoles when the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president visited her at the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) on Monday.

CBCP News, in a report Thursday, said Villegas urged Napoles to tell the truth about the pork barrel scam.

Napoles' family requested for prayers and blessings for her fast recovery, according to Villegas.

The detained businesswoman recently underwent an operation to remove a tumor in her uterus.

"As a priest, I went. But I told her the blessing will only give healing if she tells the whole truth without being selective," Villegas said. "I prayed that she may take courage to tell all she knows. Do not be afraid of the truth."

He earlier urged a thorough verification of the various "pork scam lists" that have been made public.

"If you want to authenticate the document that you have, you have to cross-check it with other sources and references and then you can come up a certain degree of certainty that this one is the authentic, this one is less accurate, and so on," Villegas said.
