MANILA - A congressional representative of a youth party-list is asking fellow members to help in government efforts to arrest retired Army Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan who is being hunted by authorities for the disappearance of two UP students in 2006.

In a statement, Kabataan Party-List Rep. Terry Ridon said the resources of district representatives at the local level can help support and assist state forces in finding and arresting the fugitive Palparan.

A Bulacan regional trial court judge earlier issued a warrant for the arrest of Palparan, Lt. Col. Felipe Anotado Jr., S/Sgt. Edgardo Osorio and M/Sgt. Rizal Hilario for the disappearance of UP students Karen Empeño and Sherlyn Cadapan on June 26, 2006.

Anotado and Osorio have voluntarily surrendered but Palparan and Hilario remain in hiding.

Manhunt operations are now being conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation in coordination with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group against Hilario and Palparan, whose head costs P2 million.
