MANILA – United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) senatorial candidate Nancy Binay is looking forward to joining the legislature after partial and unofficial results of the election showed her placing 5th in the Senate race.
Binay, daughter of Vice-President Jejomar Binay, said she sees no problem with working with her future colleagues such as Grace Poe, Loren Legarda and Francis Escudero especially since they worked together during the campaign of 2004 presidential bet Fernando Poe Jr.
“Hindi na rin, kasi alam niyo naman katulad si Grace, sila Chiz, kami naman ang magkakasama noong time ni FPJ 'di ba at tsaka si Sen. Loren Legarda. So I think walang issue. At the end of the day, kung ano 'yung makakabuti sa bansa natin, dapat magtulung-tulong kaming lahat,” she told reporters.
Legarda was Poe's running mate in 2004, and Escudero served as campaign spokesman.
Binay also backed the statement of her father that President Aquino’s Team PNoy failed to bag a 12-0 victory in the May polls.
ONLY BAM IS LP
She said technically, Team PNoy candidate Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino is the only candidate from the President’s Liberal Party to make it to the top 12. The other Team PNoy candidates are members of the Nacionalista Party and the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
“Wala na talaga 'yung 12-0 kasi to begin with nga, isang Liberal Party lang 'yung pumapasok sa kanila,” she said.
Binay downplayed the negative criticism hurled against her during the campaign, saying there will be more attacks against her family when her father runs for president in 2016.
The Vice-President, meanwhile, said he sees no rift between him and President Aquino despite supporting different candidates in the May polls.
“Matatag 'yung samahan namin ni Pangulo ano... kasintatag ng samahan ng pamilya nila at ng pamilya namin. So, ito naman eleksiyon lang wala namang personalan dito,” he said.
