Bongbong on Imelda: No better politician than my mom
MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. admits he still gets political advice from his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
“I don’t know a better politician than my mother,” he said on ANC’s PIPOL.
Marcos says his mom has always wanted him to follow the footsteps of his dad, the late President Ferdinand Marcos, and become the next Chief Executive of the country.
However, he says it is still too early to even consider seeking the presidency in 2016.
“My view is different. We really have to see what 2013 will bring. We really have to see how the political, the partisan alliances will work out. Who is going to be effective? Who is not? It is extremely important because at a national level… you cannot count individuals but groups and sectors and regions,” he says.
Is it also his ambition to become president?
“This is my profession, this is my career and of course, every person who is in any career wants to be the best at what they do. Achieve the most at what they do. What is the best achievement for a politician? It's to be president,” he says.
Can he take on Vice-President Jejomar Binay in 2016?
“That assessment will have to be made in 2013. Kaya ba natin talunin ito. Baka naman masyadong malakas?’
“If you cannot think of a plan to win, you cannot win.”
