Manny Villar cries foul over inclusion in Napoles list
MANILA - Former Senator Manny Villar on Tuesday cried foul over his inclusion in Janet Lim Napoles' list of government officials who allegedly benefited from the pork barrel scam.
Villar said it is "unfair" that his name is being dragged into the controversy.
He said he never had any dealings with either Napoles or her bogus non-government organizations (NGOs).
"I have no personal nor official dealings with Napoles and her bogus NGOs ever. It is very unfair, not to mention totally baseless that my name is being dragged into this issue, which has now become so politicized," he said in a statement.
"It seems like a new list is being drawn everyday. I too hope for the truth to come out, which the taxpaying public justly deserves," he added.
Villar's name is in the list of 11 former and incumbent senators allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam.
The list, which was allegedly made by Napoles, was submitted by former Senator Panfilo Lacson to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
The list also includes the names of 69 former and incumbent congressmen.
