MANILA - Senator Koko Pimentel has filed criminal charges at the Ombudsman this morning against high-ranking officials of the Department of Agriculture.
Pimentel said he filed falsification of documents charges against DA officials over what he called the organic fertilizer fund scam.
The senator said he discovered the anomaly during the hearings of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee in which a letter purportedly from his office had endorsed in 2012 the release of funds amounting to P10 million.
He said the fake letter-request was used to justify a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the local government unit (LGU) of Surigao del Sur.
Number 4, hindi nila ako ni-notify to acknowlege receipt of my letter. All these are indicators that something fishy happened at ipaubaya na muna natin sa Ombudsman," he said.
Pimentel said he has requested the Ombudsman and Commission on Audit to investigate the matter.
Kasi, who knows, it may be involving me or some other personalities and the entire fraud may be more than P10 million," he said. Report from ANC
