Margie Juico resigns from PCSO, sources say
MANILA - Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chair Margarita Juico has resigned, two Malacanang officials told ABS-CBN News on Thursday night.
The sources said Juico met yesterday with Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr., who gave Juico until the end of the month "to wind up" at the agency.
The sources did not give any reason for Juico's resignation, but they said President Benigno Aquino is "not happy with the way things are at the PCSO."
One source said Juico's likely replacement is former Cavite congressman Ayong Maliksi, who lost his gubernatorial bid in the 2013 elections.
However, Maliksi will have to wait until after May 13 for any government appointment, in view of the one-year ban on losing candidates.
The other source, however, said the matter of Juico's replacement is "not yet final."
Juico was the appointments secretary of President Benigno Aquino's mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, and is known to be very close to Noynoy's sisters.
Her husband, Philip, was agrarian reform secretary during Cory's time.
