MANILA, Philippines – Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon still has the trust and confidence of President Aquino despite complaints from hog raisers, a Malacañang spokesperson said Friday.
Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Abigail Valte said Biazon has been addressing the concerns of hog raisers over the increase in pork and poultry imports.
"The President has not mentioned any dissatisfaction, at least to us. The answer to that would be yes," Valte said, when asked if Biazon still has the President's trust and confidence.
The Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines earlier announced plans for a pork holiday following the failure of the Bureau of Customs to restrict the entry of undervalued meat products.
