MANILA, Philippines - Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala on Tuesday said documents regarding the P728 million fertilizer fund scam under the Arroyo administration remain intact.
The agriculture chief assured the public of the full cooperation of his department in any investigation into the fertilizer fund scam.
Meanwhile Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma said any scheme to save former President Arroyo and outgoing Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez from prosecution may not work.
Coloma said nothing will dampen the resolve of the government to seek justice for the controversies that hounded the previous administration.
The fertilizer fund scandal involved the release of P728 million in government funds to Arroyo's allies in the runup to the 2004 presidential election. Witnesses said the funds were distributed to ensure Arroyo's victory in the polls.
