MANILA - The Commission on Elections will be holding office tomorrow, Labor Day.
Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said the commission will come in tomorrow and will be given overtime pay.
The Comelec is in the thick of preparations for the midterm elections, which is 13 days away.
The complete commission en banc met for the first time today, with newly appointed Commissioners Al Parreno and Lui Guia joining. It was Parreno's first time to join the en banc session, and Guia's 2nd.
Parreno took his oath of office before Supreme Court Justice Roberto Abad over the weekend. He will sit in the Comelec First Division with Commissioners Lucenito Tagle and Christian Robert Lim.
Guia will sit in the 2nd Division with Commissioners Elias Yusoph and Grace Padaca.
Guia will take over the committee on detainee voting from Padaca, while Parreno will join Lim in managing the poll body's information technology related concerns.
He will also join efforts on campaign finance monitoring and the national support center.
The Comelec en banc also met with members of the senior staff today to discuss preparations.
The poll body is gearing up for the transmission test on Thursday, and the final testing and sealing of the precint count optical scan (PCOS) machines on Monday.
