MANILA, Philippines – Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said President Benigno Aquino is not engaged in premature campaigning despite endorsing TESDA chief Joel Villanueva and Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara on Sunday.
Lacierda said he does not consider this as premature campaigning because the period for the filing of certificates of candidacy has not yet started.
Lacierda said the President is just proud of the accomplishments of these personalities.
Meantime, Lacierda said that the President will make a good endorser. "No doubt about that," he said.
In a recent Pulse Asia survey, Vice President Jejomar Binay emerged as the top endorser for the 2013 senatorial elections.
Seventy-three percent of the respondents said they would vote for the candidates endorsed by Binay, who will run come 2016.
Two-thirds or 66% said they would vote for Aquino’s endorsed candidates.
