SAN JOSE, Batangas - Resigned senator Juan Miguel Zubiri continued to make a pitch for his campaign for a Senate seat in the 2013 elections.

Zubiri said his resignation from the Upper Chamber was to show that delicadeza is alive and well in the country.

"Bakit ako nag-resign? Para ipakita na buhay pa ang delicadeza ng pulitika sa Pilipinas," he said.

The former lawmaker quit his Senate post last year following allegations that he benefited from massive cheating in Maguindanao province during the 2007 elections.

His resignation allowed his erstwhile rival, Koko Pimentel, to claim the Senate seat.

Zubiri is one of several candidates being eyed for a slot in the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA). His inclusion is being opposed by Pimentel.

Zubiri said he is hoping that the allegations of poll cheating in 2007 will not affect his chances in the 2013 elections.

He said he wants to focus on health services if he is elected again to the Senate.

"Meron ka ngang Philhealth, pangit naman ospital. Baka naman mamatay ka rin sa konsumisyon," he said. Report by Val Balita, ABS-CBN News
