MANILA, Philippines – There will be no long weekend leading to Labor Day on May 1, a Palace spokesperson said on Thursday.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said April 30, Monday, will be a regular work day.
The Labor Day on May 1, a regular holiday, falls on a Tuesday.
“Yes may pasok po sa Monday :)” Valte said in response to a question on her Twitter page.
It was the policy of the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to implement long weekends when a regular holiday falls in the middle of the week, citing economic advantages.
The practice was stopped during the administration of President Benigno Aquino III.
