Corona absent during Erap's birthday
MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) - Former President Joseph Estrada confirmed Wednesday that Chief Justice Renato Corona did not attend his 75th birthday party last week.
Asked by Punto por Punto host Anthony Taberna if Corona was invited, Estrada said: "Parang hindi naman pwedeng pagsamahin."
Corona, who is facing an impeachment trial before the Senate, is currently in Baguio City for the Supreme Court's summer session.
Estrada thanked President Aquino, Vice-President Jejomar Binay, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and House Speaker Sonny Belmonte for coming to his party.
He joked that the party was for the "25th anniversary of his 50th birthday."
He refused to comment on Corona's impeachment trial. He noted, however, that Corona is lucky to have Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile as the presiding officer in his trial.
"[Enrile is very fair, knows the law and is impartial unlike in my trial where the presiding officer was part of the conspiracy," he said, referring to former Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr.
