MANILA - The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) reminded the youth that the observation of Lent is not about having fun in resorts.

In an interview with Radio Veritas, CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth Chairman and Bangued, Abra Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian said: “Bago yung mga kasiyahan, unahin muna natin ang ating pakikiisa sa paghihirap, kamatayan at muling pagkabuhay ng Panginoon.”

While he understands it is also vacation time, he reminded the youth of the real meaning of Lent.

Meanwhile, the Diocese of Kalibo said it has activities lined-up for those visiting the area.

Fr. Ulysses Dalida, however, said the diocese will not stop tourists from doing other activities.

He urged the tourists to reflect on the meaning of Lent.

“Magnilay. Hindi naman bawal yung mga kasiyahan doon pero siyempre personal na intensyon na magpunta doon sana may time sila na magnilay at alalahanin yung mga pinagdaanan ng ating Panginoon,” he said.
