MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will not extend the April 16 deadline for filing income tax returns (ITR).
In an interview with radio dzMM on Sunday, BIR Commissioner Kim Henares said those who will fail to file their ITR on Monday will be fined with interest and surcharges.
"Tomorrow is the deadline. Wala hong extension 'yun. 'Pag na-late kayo, meron pong mga penalites imposed," Henares said.
BIR offices will open at 7 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. on Monday.
"If you're already in line, nasa BIR na kayo ng alas-singko (ng hapon), tatapusin po natin 'yan," Henares said.
With the deluge of taxpayers expected to beat the deadline, Henares appealed to taxpayers to be more patient come Monday. – Reports from ANC and dzMM
