MANILA - Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz believes a bill on abortion will be filed next after the Supreme Court upheld majority of the provisions of the Reproductive Health (RH) Law.

In an interview with Radio Veritas, the former president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said there was a forum last January at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) where abortion was discussed.

“Noong mid- January sa PICC, may pagpupulong ang iba’t-ibang organisasyon kasama ang taga labas at hinggil sa abortion ang pulong,” he said.

With the RH Law in place, more funds are expected to come in to finance contraceptives and abortifacients, he said.

He believes the decision of the Supreme Court was all the administration’s doing.

“The administration now has the legislative and the judiciary under its wings, nakakahiya man, kitang kita natin na hindi talagang objective ang botohan kundi maraming pressure,” he said.

The SC announced the decision upholding the birth control law on Tuesday. The promulgated decision and separate opinions of justices were only released today.
