MANILA – The legal counsel of property developer Delfin Lee on Monday said they want the businessman to attend the Senate hearing on the housing scam set on Tuesday, but was not given a notice to attend it.
Atty. Willie Rivera said the warden of the Pampanga Provincial Jail where Lee is presently detained did not receive a notice about the Senate hearing, which will be led by Sen. JV Ejercito of the Senate committee on urban planning, housing and resettlement.
"Walang notice ang warden. Last minute, kanina lang po, nakatangaap ng notice sa email ang Globe Asiatique, hindi po sa aking opisina, na may hearing," Rivera told ABS-CBN.
Because Lee did not receive any notice, the only ones sure to attend the Senate hearing are Lee’s lawyers, Rivera said.
"Gusto naming mag-attend si Mr. Delfin Lee sa Senate hearing, and we will waive our right to self-incrimination dahil walang tinatago ang aking kliyente," he said.
Rivera also said they want Lee to attend the hearing to clarify that there is no P6.6-billion scam.
"Para po maliwanagan na walang P6.6 billion [scam] na sinasabi. Hindi po totoo yun e. Walang damage sa Pag-IBIG dahil lahat ng pinoproseso, secured lahat ng collateral," Rivera said.
According to Rivera, they would like to ask Pag-IBIG to prove its allegations during the hearing.
"We’d like to ask Pag-IBIG to prove that (P6.6-billion damage). It’s all media hype," he said.
