MANILA, Philippines – Catholic devotees in various churches nationwide are busy preparing for Easter Sunday’s “Pista ng Salubong.”
The feast is the Filipino Catholics’ way to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and his reunion with Mother Mary.
Once the holy images of Christ and Mary get reunited, a child dressed up like an angel removes the black veil from the Blessed Virgin.
The ritual will be followed by a huge procession, which leads to the church where devotees attend mass.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is also setting up security measures to ensure the safety of the devotees nationwide.
