MANILA, Philippines - The Court of Appeals (CA) has upheld a Department of Justice (DOJ) resolution finding probable cause against Jesus Is Lord founder and losing presidential aspirant Eddie Villanueva for estafa.

The appellate court said it did not see any grave abuse of discretion on the part of the DOJ when it moved to have Villanueva’s case undergo a preliminary investigation.

The case stemmed from the case filed by Benito Araneta of Entertainment Network Ltd.

Araneta accused Villanueva of running away with P15 million that he paid him for the transfer of Villanueva’s Zoe Broadcasting Network to Entertainment Network.

He found out, however, that Villanueva had inked a similar agreement with another company in 1999. – from a report by Alex Calda, dzMM
