MANILA - Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago continues to post old photos of herself in her Twitter account, this time showing a photo of her graduation at University of the Philippines Iloilo.
The photo showed a young Miriam with her father, district trial judge Benjamin A. Defensor.
Her tweet read: "This is me with my dad when I graduated magna cum laude from UP Iloilo. #throwbackthursday."
According to her official website, Santiago graduated valedictorian of the La Paz Elementary School, and valedictorian of the Iloilo Provincial National High School.
She was only 16 when she enrolled as freshman at the University of the Philippines Visayas in Iloilo City. She finished the academic requirements in only three and a half years, instead of four years, with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in political science, magna cum laude.
She took up law at UP Diliman and graduated Bachelor of Laws, cum laude, from the state university. She later pursued postdoctoral studies in law at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, University of California, at Berkeley, and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She attended the Hague Academy of Public International Law at The Hague, Netherlands, and at Sophia University, Tokyo.
