MANILA, Philippines -- President Benigno Aquino III lamented his forever thinning hair and deepening eye bags, which he blamed on his job as president.

In his speech before the graduates of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class Pudang Kalis on Sunday, Aquino said: “Alam po ninyo, tatapatin ko kayo, hindi po nakakabata ang pagiging Pangulo ng Pilipinas.

He joked that his hair, or what remains of it, is still longer than that of the cadets of the academy.

Turning serious, Aquino said his six years in position is no joke and that this may not be enough to implement change.

Despite the heavy burden of the presidency, he said he is like the cadets who have to march despite the weight of their sabers.

Aquino told the PMA graduates it is now time to face reality, beyond theory and practice, noting that the graduates’ “vacation” in the PMA is over, drawing laughs from the crowd. Cadets go through strenuous exercises, sometimes letting go of sleep, to graduate from the academy.
