MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III reminded the new graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) that their much-trumpeted Honor Code should be maintained even outside the institution.

The PMA’s Honor Code has been put to question by some when the institution dismissed Cadet First Class Aldrin Jeff Cudia weeks before the graduation rites for supposedly violating the Code when he allegedly lied for being late in class for two minutes.

The Honor Code prescribes that a cadet should “not lie, cheat, steal.”

Cudia, who accused the honor committee of grave abuse of discretion after its members changed its 8-1 vote to 9-0, has lost his appeal several times. The decision of the committee should be unanimous.

Aquino already ordered Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Bautista to review Cudia’s case. The embattled cadet, on the other hand, brought his case to the Supreme Court.

He reminded the graduates, led by valedictorian Cadet First Class Jheorge Llona, that they will face reality once they step out of Fort del Pilar.
