MANILA - Vice-President Jejomar Binay is reaching out to more possible candidates in the 2016 Senate race after failing to complete a 12-man lineup in last year's polls.

Binay earlier announced that he has invited boxing champ and Sarangani congressman Manny Pacquiao to join the senatorial lineup of his new political party.

Asked if he will announce more candidates aside from Pacquiao, he said: "Well, [Pacquiao] is being considered. Kasi 'yung pinagdaanan namin sa nakaraang halalan, kinapos kami sa panahon. Kaya ngayon pa lang, nagco-consider na kami. Kung sino 'yung mga pwedeng malapitan, kung sino ang may gusto."

Binay said he is hoping to complete his senatorial line-up by next year.

"We are reaching out to possible candidates hoping that, siguro by second half of next year, kumpleto na 'yung line-up namin," he said.

Binay, who is running for President in 2016, earlier said he is forming a new political party and leaving the PDP-Laban due to factionalism.

Earlier reports said Binay is eyeing either Sen. Jinggoy Estrada or Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos Recto as running-mate in the 2016 race.
