MANILA - Senator Juan Ponce Enrile will soon formally give to the Blue Ribbon committee his response to the pork barrel scam.
Coming after senators Jinggoy Estrada’s and Alan Cayetano’s heated exchange on Wednesday, Enrile told his colleagues that he will submit his counter-affidavit to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
His counter-affidavit is his response to the plunder case filed at the Office of the Ombudsman.
“A while ago, before the opening of the session, the chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee – Senator Teofisto Guingona III – wrote me a letter asking me if I have any document or material that I want to be inserted into the record of the Blue Ribbon proceedings,” Enrile said.
He said he has kept quiet all these months “because as a lawyer, I have my own strategy in defending myself.”
He said anyone interested in finding out his view about the pork barrel scam “point by point” should read his counter-affidavit.
This comes on the heels of another privilege speech from Estrada, who questioned the characters of pork barrel scam witnesses Dennis Cunanan and Ruby Tuason.
Estrada described Cunanan as a jetsetter who went abroad 80 times while he was with the Technology Resource Center.
Tuason, meanwhile, owns P45-million mansion at Dasmarinas Village, Estrada alleged.
Estrada said he, Enrile, and Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. are being persecuted even without enough evidence.
This pushed Cayetano to take the floor and question Estrada.
Enrile, who has also been criticized several times by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, later butted in.
