MANILA - Will the Liberal Party and Nacionalista Party join forces for the 2016 elections?
Nothing is definite yet, according to Senator Cynthia Villar.
"Wala naman pong usapan na ganoon kaya lang iyon ay something na naiisip ni Senator Cayetano. Kami naman, hindi naman po out of the question iyon, depende what will happen. It's too far. Syempre marami pang mangyayari mula ngayon hanggang 2016. Hindi naman niya sinabi na sigurado na, sabi niya baka. So it's still baka," Villar told reporters.
On the possible candidacy of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for higher office, Villar said: "Sabi niya, ino-offer niya ang sarili niya kung gusto ng tao, titingnan niya at the end of the year."
She also said her husband, former senator Manny Villar, has no plans to run for president again at least for now.
Villar ran for president in 2010 but lost to LP standard-bearer Benigno Aquino III.
"Hindi naman nakibo si Manny. Kayo naman ginagawan ninyo ng istorya. Nagtatrabaho lang 'yung tao. It's too early ngayon for him. He's working," the senator told reporters.
Meantime, Villar thinks the government's target to achieve self-sufficiency in rice would not be met this year given the typhoons that hit the country.
"I think may shortage tayo because na-damage tayo ng typhoon. I think we will have a shortage. Hindi natin maa-achieve 'yung sufficiency natin. Kaya I think we have to import," she said.
