Non-Napoles NGOs got P4B in PDAF: Chiz
MANILA – Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero is urging the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to investigate bogus non-government organizations (NGOs) not set up by Janet Lim Napoles but had also received pork barrel funds.
Escudero said some 74 NGOs pocketed P4 billion of the P10 billion in Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) that the Commission on Audit (COA) earlier reported was misused between 2007 and 2009.
"Mas marami ang NGOs na iyon at mas malaking pera ang dumaan sa NGOs na iyon kumpara sa dumaan kay Napoles," Escudero said.
"Iyung hearing po ay sa pananaw at palagay ko ay titigil na iyan pag naisampa na ang kaso sa Sandiganbayan at wala ng dagdag na testigong lalabas. Depende na lang kung tulad ng hinihingi ko na magpatuloy ang hearing sa nalalabing NGOs na hindi konektado kay Napoles. "
Escudero also noted that aside from the NGOs, lawmakers who had funneled their PDAF money straight to local government units (LGUs) must also be investigated.
The nine Blue Ribbon Committee hearings on the pork barrel scam have focused mostly on the NGOs set up by Napoles, who is facing plunder charges along with Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., and Juan Ponce Enrile.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda earlier said that the Inter-Agency Anti-Graft Coordinating Council (IAAGCC) Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and Commission on Audit chairwoman Grace Pulido Tan are also investigating the non-Napoles NGOs.
