MANILA - Administration ally Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice believes Vice President Jejomar Binay left the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas (PDP)-Laban because he does not have control over Sen. Koko Pimentel, who is the party president.
PDP-Laban coalesced with the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) during the last elections to form the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Pimentel bolted out of UNA’s line-up after Binay and other leaders of the coalition decided to include his rival, former senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Erice believes it is but natural for PDP-Laban to experience leadership conflicts with just two years before presidential elections.
Binay announced last week his decision to leave PDP-Laban due to conflicts within the party.
He said he will form another party, which is expected to carry his presidential campaign. – from a report by Jenny Reyes, ABS-CBN News
