Vilma has no plan to run in 2016, says Recto
Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto.
MANILA - Batangas Governor Vilma Santos has no plan to run for any position in the 2016 elections, according to her husband, Sen. Ralph Recto, dismissing talk that she could be Vice President Jejomar Binay’s running mate.
"Walang plano si Vilma na tumakbo sa 2016 na alam ko,” Recto told reporters after leading the hearing of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology on the anti-cybercrime law.
Recto said that Binay and Santos only discussed housing concerns in Batangas when the two met last month.
Recto said that Santos may retire from politics after her term ends as governor in 2016 and may want to do more movies instead.
“Posibleng mag-retiro siya,” he said.
Recto jestingly said that Santos would run as president—of an association representing senior citizens and that he would be her running mate.
“Siya ang pinakamaganda na kinatawan ng senior citizens,” he said.
Recto said he has no plans too to run for higher office in 2016 and may only possibly run for the Senate again.
