MANILA, Philippines - Three personalities critical of the Aquino administration met in a restaurant in Manila Hotel hours before the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) grand evangelical event started on Tuesday at the Quirino Grandstand.
Supreme Court spokesman Jose Midas Marquez , former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Magtanggol Gatdula and his lawyer Atty. Ferdinand Topacio had a meal together at the restaurant.
They were joined by former Quezon City Rep. Annie Susano.
Marquez said he joined the INC event after receiving an invitation from the religious group. He denied politics as the reason for his attendance.
He also said his presence in the prayer rally is not related to the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Gatdula, meanwhile, said the INC gathering will help him "spiritually."
The Department of Justice has recommended a preliminary investigation for kidnapping and serious illegal detention against Gatdula and several others in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Japanese woman Noriyo Ohara by officers and agents of the NBI. - with a report from Jasmin Romero, ABS-CBN News
