MANILA - Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. again called for the resignation of Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas over the rising crime incidence in the country.
Citing data from the Philippine National Police, Revilla said crime incidence in 2013 reached 1,033,833, or almost a 500% increase from the previous year.
In 2011, the number was at 246,958 and in 2012, the number was at 217,812.
“Kung mapapansin ninyo, yung 2011 at 2012, si Sec. Jesse Robredo ang nagpapatakbo sa DILG. He succeeded in bringing crime down. Pero nung pumasok itong si Sec. Roxas, biglang alagwa ang kriminalidad,” Revilla said.
He described Roxas as “useless”, noting that the work the latter has done in several agencies was “palpak [a failure]”.
“His ineptitude in the DOTC (Department of Transportation and Communications) resulted in all the problems we are facing in that department. Nung makausap ko ang mga taga-Zamboanga, siya rin ang sinisisi kung bakit daw lumala ang sitwasyon doon. When you go to Tacloban and Eastern Visayas, ganun din sinasabi ng ating mga kababayan. They also blame him,” he said.
Revilla earlier called for Roxas’ resignation after claiming the Liberal Party stalwart was behind Dennis Cunanan, who has decided to testify in the P10 billion pork barrel scam.
Revilla blamed the administration for using its entire machinery to pin him down in the scam.
“I pity my friend, Senator Revilla, because it appears that he doesn’t know how to face the evidence provided by Benhur Luy and COA (Commission on Audit). I’m not his enemy,” Roxas was earlier quoted as saying.
