MANILA -- The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said other dioceses are now planning to release a list of "Team Patay" senatorial candidates, following the Diocese of Bacolod's move of tagging pro-reproductive health (RH) law bets as "anti-life".
CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life Executive Secretary Fr. Melvin Castro said the Archdiocese of Lipa, Diocese of Cubao and Diocese of Tarlac said they also want to urge voters to junk candidates who they deem as "anti-life" due to their support for the controversial RH law.
The Diocese of Bacolod earlier released lists of "Team Patay" and "Team Buhay" senatorial candidates.
Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile, former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros, Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño from Makabayan, Edgardo "Sonny" Angara, and Senators Francis "Chiz" Escudero, Loren Legarda and Alan Peter Cayetano were included on the list of "Team Patay" senatorial aspirants.
The diocese, meanwhile, urged voters to support "pro-life" candidates Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, Sen. Koko Pimentel III, former Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar, Sen. Gringo Honasan, San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito, and Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay. -- Report from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM
