CEBU CITY, Philippines - Ricardo Cardinal Vidal will be leaving for the Vatican Tuesday to attend activities in line with the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.

He will attend the last Mass that will be celebrated by Benedict as a pope on February 28.

Cardina Vidal said he still doesn't know the activities lined-up for the outgoing pope but he is sure of the Benedict's mass and possible speech before completely resigning from his duties as the Catholic church's leader.

He said that he will remain in Rome until a new pope will be chosen.

He said that he will not be able to join the voting but will be with other cardinals who will pray for the success in searching for the next pope.

There has been a talk that Manila's Antonio Cardinal Tagle is a strong candidate for the next pope.

Tagle has been tagged as someone close to Pope Benedict XVI.

Benedict was close also to his predecessor, Pope Pohn Paul II.

He has also been tagged as someone young and strong who can carry the duties well.

However, Cardinal Vidal said it is really hard to tell since it will be the Holy Spirit who will choose the next pope.
