MANILA, Philippines - Only 33 -- and not 304 -- Congress-approved measures are awaiting President Benigno Aquino's signature for them to becomes new laws, a Palace official said Tuesday.
Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said some of the approved bills are still being reviewed and could be vetoed.
Of the 33 bills, 8 are of national application and 25 are of local application.
Valte said the Palace is still assessing the human rights compensation bill and amendments to the Intellectual Property Code.
"Doon sa mga national, tatlo lang naman 'yung option ng Pangulo diyan e, as under the Constitution: one, is to sign it within 30 days; second is, if after the 30 days it remains unsigned or vetoed it lapses into law; at, pangatlo, to veto," she said.
"Iyung sa national, they're all being reviewed. Constitutionally, the President has 30 days, so he's still within the timeframe allowed."
