MANILA - Lauro Vizconde, chairman emeritus of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), will be buried in the same grave with his wife and children who were murdered in their home in 1991.
Vizconde, 77, passed away at the Unihealth-Parañaque Hospital last Saturday. It was his wish that he be laid to rest with his wife Estrellita and daughters Carmela and Jennifer.
The remains of his family were exhumed Wednesday morning from their tombs in the Holy Cross Memorial Park in Novaliches.
The remains will be brought to the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque where they will meet the remains of the Vizconde patriarch.
The entire Vizconde family will be laid to rest at the Manila Memorial Park this afternoon.
In June 1991, Vizconde, who was then overseas, lost his wife and daughters after they were stabbed to death in their home in Parañaque. His daughter Carmela was also raped.
Several men, including former Senator Freddie Webb's son, Hubert, were charged for the crime. They were eventually convicted by the trial court in 2000.
The Supreme Court, however, overturned the decision in 2010 and acquitted all of the accused. - Report from Angel Movido, ABS-CBN News
