MANILA -- Jerry Barican, the former spokesman of President Joseph Estrada is now in stable, but critical condition after suffering a major heart attack on Saturday.
According to his lawyer and friend, Trixie Cruz, Barican “had been complaining of chest pains last night and called a friend. The next morning he was in Makati Med.”
Citing hospital reports, Cruz said Barican had a clogged artery that caused the attack. The clot has since been unblocked, she said.
Immediately after friends posted the incident on Facebook, many netizens posted words of prayer and hope for Barican.
Barican is most memorable for his role in the First Quarter Storm. He was then president of the University of the Philippines’ Student Council.
When martial law was declared, he was among those who were arrested and detained in Bicutan.
