MANILA – Social media users were divided on the testimony given by Ruby Tuason at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on Thursday.
Tuason, social secretary of then-President Joseph Estrada, detailed before the Senate her alleged "go-between" role for Janet Napoles, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, and Senator Jinggoy Estrada in the pork barrel scam.
Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago called Tuason's testimony a "bull's eye" while Senator Teofiosto "TG" Guingona III called it "an honest act of contrition."
But netizens expressed variety of responses to Tuason's statement after TV Patrol asked on Facebook and Twitter: "Para sa'yo, kapani-paniwala ba ang mga ibinulgar ni Ruby Tuason sa Senado? Bakit o bakit hindi?"
Facebook user Jose Marie Villegas said he thinks Tuason is telling the truth and he would rather believe her than the senators involved who seem to be avoiding the Senate hearing.
"Ito ang totoo. Deretsahan ang sagot, kaya iyung mga senador na hindi umatend ng hearing kanina, umiwas sa sila tanong," he said.
Gil Tecson also believes Tuason's testimony, arguing that it is illogical to make up stories when your life is at stake.
"Oo naman, kapani-paniwala naman, ano naman mapapala inya kung mag iimbento sya ng mga kwento," he said.
However, Facebook user I'am A Holyface seems to be tired of all the hearings on the pork barrel scam.
When asked what he thinks of Tuason's statement all he can say was: "Telemovie of the year."
Meanwhile, a lot of Twitter users also expressed belief in Tuason's testimony, citing body language, logic and facts:
Even Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, who starred in the defunct ABS-CBN hit series "Kahit Isang Saglit," keeps herself updated with news on the pork barrel scam.
Meanwhile, other social media users still doubt Tuason.
