MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will continue to dig deeper into the P900 million Malampaya Fund controversy in the wake of "new information" coming from "pork barrel" scam case respondent-turned-witness Ruby Tuason.
Justice Secretary Leila De Lima stressed that the NBI has an ongoing fact-finding investigation into the alleged scam.
Justa Tantoco, reportedly a friend of the family of former President Joseph Estrada, and the owner of a house in posh Dasmarinas Village, Makati where over P11 million in Malampaya Fund "kickbacks" were allegedly delivered by actor Mat Ranillo, and Ranillo, himself, will be among those who will be questioned after their names cropped up in Tuason's sworn statement.
The NBI will also continue to probe Tuason's so-called principal, the personality who allegedly benefitted from the P242 million Malampaya kickbacks delivered to Tuason.
Tuason, for her part, claimed it was her brother, Remy, who received the sums of money, and turned it over to Atty. Jess Santos, former lawyer of ex-First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.
Last Monday, Santos denied knowing Tuason. He also said he has nothing to do with the Malampaya Fund scam.
