MANILA - Senator Jinggoy Estrada said dragging the name of his mother, former Senator Loi Estrada, into the pork barrel scam scandal is part of the plan to pin him down.

He said this is no different from the case of Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla Jr., whose father and namesake has also been linked to the scandal.

The older Revilla, who also served in the Senate, supposedly also allocated part of his pork barrel fund to a non-government organization of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.

Estrada said the older Revilla’s name only emerged after his son made a privilege speech lambasting Malacanang.

“Nanay ko pa? E ayaw ng pulitika nun….It’s [part of the plan] to pin me down. But still I have faith and confidence that the truth will set us free,” Estrada said.

Whistleblower Benhur Luy recently revealed that Estrada’s mother also supposedly channeled her pork barrel to the non-government organizations of businesswoman Janet Napoles.

Meanwhile, Malacañang denied it is singling out the Estradas in the investigation on the pork barrel scam.

“Wala pong tinutukoy o sini-single out na kahit sinong indibidwal dahil ang pinagbabatayan naman po ay ebidensya,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said.

Meanwhile, Estrada also doubts that his former appointments secretary, Pauline Labayen, will turn his back against them.

“She has nothing to do with the case,” Estrada said. – with reports from Ruby Tayag, dzMM
