MANILA - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) expects the National Printing Office (NPO) to hit its peak printing capacity of one million official ballots a day this week.

Should the NPO fail to deliver on this, the poll body will start asking for an explanation, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said.

He also maintained they have enough Comelec personnel to test the ballots with the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines.

NPO started printing during the first week of February. It claimed it can print 650,000 ballots per day during the first week and one million per day on the second and following weeks.

Comelec Commissioner Sixto Brillantes expressed hopes that NPO will be able to hasten the process amid earlier hitches. -- by RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News
