MANILA – Nancy Binay, daughter of Vice-President Jejomar Binay, is now ranked 4th in the list of possible senatorial winners while another candidate, Aurora Rep. Sonny Angara, has entered the "Magic 12", according to the latest pre-election survey of private pollster Pulse Asia.
The survey, conducted from January 19 to 30, 2013, showed the vice-president's daughter getting 43.6% support from a sample of 1,800 registered voters 18 years old and above.
Binay is tied for 4th-9th place with San Juan City Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada who got 43.5%.
Three re-electionists – Senators Loren Legarda (58%), Chiz Escudero (54.3%) and Alan Peter Cayetano (48.9%) – continued to dominate the race after landing the top 3 slots.
Ranked 4th to 12th are Senator Antonio Trillanes IV (41.1%), Senator Koko Pimentel (40.7%), Cagayan Representative Juan Ponce Enrile, Jr. (40.4%) and former Las Piñas Representative Cynthia Villar (39.1%).
Completing the list of probable winners are three candidates who share 6th to 12th places – former Senator Migz Zubiri (37.6%), Aurora Rep. Sonny Angara (37.1%), and Senator Gringo Honasan (36.8%).
Pulse Asia said only about a third of the Filipino electorate has a complete senatorial slate (34%) while 8.6% does not express support for any of those running for senator.
Pulse Asia's nationwide survey has a ± 2% error margin at the 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following error margins at 95% confidence level: ± 7% for Metro Manila, ±3% for the rest of Luzon and ±5% for each of Visayas and Mindanao.
