MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has not yet decided if it will hold another mock election, spokesman James Jimenez said Thursday.

The poll body already spent about P4 million for the field testing and mock elections using the automated election system.

He said the budget for the mock elections is pegged at P1,858,800 while field testing is at P1,924,000.

Field testing checks the transmission capabilities of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines while the mock election is a simulation of the election day scenario.

Jimenez explained that the cost partly went to transportation for the paraphernalia and personnel, the venues for the mock elections as well as the cost of producing ballots.
