MANILA, Philippines - Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte on Tuesday said there is no truth to reports that Sen. Teofisto "TG" Guingona III tried to broker a term-sharing deal between Chief Justice Renato Corona and Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.

The report said that Guingona was allegedly acting on behalf of President Aquino. Valte said the President "has nothing to do" with the alleged deal.

A report from the Daily Tribune said Guingona allegedly approached Corona last year about the proposed term-sharing deal, which was then allegedly rejected by the chief justice.
