MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has appointed a new vice chief of staff of the Armed Forces as well as an acting administrator of the Office of Civil Defense.
In a text message, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said: "We are pleased to announce that President Aquino has approved the designation of LTGEN Alan R. Luga O-8414 AFP as Vice Chief of Staff, effective February 1, 2013."
"The President has also appointed Eduardo del Rosario as Acting Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense, vice Benito T. Ramos, also effective February 1, 2013."
She said Del Rosario will also take over as executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Luga is a former commander of the Army's 7th Infantry Division and worked as a plans officer of the Force Headquarters of the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Force in East Timor.
Del Rosario is the former commander of the 2nd Infantry Division and the former head of the Civil Relations Service of the AFP.
