MANILA -- The Chinese government said Friday it supports Hong Kong's decision to scrap the visa-free access of Philippine public officials visiting the former Crown colony.
At the same time, China advised the country's officials to resolve the issue, which came after the Aquino government refused to apologize for the Quirino Grandstand hostage crisis in 2010.
Hong Kong had asked the government to apologize for the incident, where eight Hong Kong tourists perished.
The scrapping of the visa-free access will take effect on Wednesday. -- Report from ANC
