MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday admitted deleting the party affiliation of senatorial candidate Teddy Casiño in the final ballot form for the elections.
Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento said the poll body may still be able to correct the deletion of Casiño’s party affiliation. Casiño registered under the Makabayan Coalition, which is a registered political party.
This ran counter to Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jnr’s statement that Comelec may no longer have time to correct the error.
Sarmiento said the poll body earlier corrected another error, when the ballot design listed Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim with 2 parties. Lim is registered only with the Liberal Party.
"Yung kay Teddy Casiño can still be corrected. Maco-correct pa,” he said.
The Comelec will start printing the ballots for the mid-term elections on Monday.
The National Printing Office will be blessing the new printing machines for the ballots on Wednesday, January 30.
"NPO has improved the facilities of its office so it has installed so many improvements in the place for people to see. Working conditions have been improved. We'll confirm this tomorrow sa ribbon cutting,” Sarmiento said.
