MANILA, Philippines - Despite the verbal tussle between the administration’s political party with the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), President Benigno Aquino III said he doesn’t have any “issues” with Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Aquino told reporters in Davos at the end of the World Economic Forum there that he and Binay do not even talk about the current political turmoil in Cebu. He said he also does not have complaints about Binay’s work as a housing czar and a vocal representative for the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

“Wala kaming issues actually. Hindi namin pinag-uusapan ‘yon. Siguro, pareho naman kami, medyo seasoned politician enough to understand the other’s actions,” Aquino said.

He clarified, however, there is nothing political in the suspension of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who remains holed up in the Capitol until now.

“Clearly, we went through a process and it was proven that there were violations that she did. The excuses are not valid,” the President said.

He said Binay has not even appealed to him directly in behalf of Garcia.

Binay is one of the stalwarts of UNA, which earlier slammed the administration Liberal Party for political harassment. The administration slate is now known as “Team Pinoy.”

UNA secretary general Toby Tiangco earlier said that no matter what the LP or “its apologists” say, Martial Law is already being implemented in Cebu.
