MANILA - Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s blood pressure supposedly rose to 180/100 following a verbal clash with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano late Wednesday afternoon, according to Enrile's ally Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada told dzMM that Enrile was asked by doctors to rest. He was also given oxygen.
After less than an hour, the 88-year-old politician decided to go back to the plenary.
Enrile took the floor again at around 6:00 p.m.
Composed at first, Enrile at some point asked for water while explaining the expenses of the Senate.
Cayetano and 3 other senators have called for an accounting of the Senate's expenses under Enrile's leadership.
