MANILA - Gabriela party-list Rep. Emmy de Jesus wants President Aquino to explain the allegations made by Senator Bong Revilla that the Chief Executive personally pleaded for him to add his vote to convict then Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona during the 2012 impeachment proceedings.
"Tila yata ang Daang Matuwid ay daluyan ng mga sasakyang hatid-sundo ng mga karakter na may kinalaman sa katiwalian," de Jesus said in a statement. "Personal drivers na ba ang ating mga pinuno, mula sa paghatid kay Janet Napoles noong siya ay sumuko, hanggang sa pagsundo kay Senador Revilla para sa lihim na pagkikita nila ni BS Aquino?"
"If proven true, Revilla's exposes might add fuel to the rising people's anger, and that can lead to a third uprising that can oust President Aquino. Those parties named in this privilege speech have a lot of explaining to the people," she added.
CIBAC party-list Rep. and Corona trial prosecutor Sherwin Tugna earlier said the conviction of Corona at the Senate impeachment court stands despite Revilla's allegations.
Tugna said the verdict cannot be overturned and the conviction came with evidence presented.
He also said Revilla's allegations supposedly happened outside the Senate impeachment court.
Revilla was among those who voted to convict Corona. This led to Corona's ouster from office -- the first conviction in a Senate impeachment trial.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada earlier alleged that Malacanang influenced the vote of the senators in the Corona impeachment trial.
Estrada and Revilla have been alleged to have benefited from the so-called pork barrel scam of Janet Lim Napoles.
